A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter is back for another action packed season. After a successful six season run, Duane “Dog” Chapman is once again in the business of hunting down fugitives and bringing them to justice. Joined by wife Beth, sons Leland and Duane Lee, pregnant daughter Lyssa and partner Bobby Brown, this highly skilled team of hunters always manage to track down their prey and put them behind bars where they belong.
The season premiere, titled Wrong Turn, begins with Dog’s team searching for a 20 year old fugitive named Kelley Murphy. After locating and arresting Kelley’s close friend, Lionel, for falsifying information on a bondsman application, the team persuades him to give up information on the whereabouts of his friend. Lionel gives the name and location of Kelley’s girlfriend, and the team begins their search.
After following several leads, most of them false, the team finally gets close to the suspect. Trying to evade arrest and stay out of jail, the suspect takes off in his Jeep and the hot pursuit begins. Beth manages to stay on Kelley’s heels and watches as the suspect loses control and rolls his Jeep. Dog, following close behind, soon arrives on the scene only to find that the suspect has taken off running through a field. The police are called and the team steps back while they take over the search. Unable to locate the suspect, the police soon leave, making way for Dog’s team to resume their search.
Later in the show, Kelley shows up with his father to turn himself in. The emotional surrender ends with Dog telling Kelley how his daughter, Barbara Katie, was killed in a car crash exactly three years ago and that he doesn’t want Kelley to suffer the same fate. The team takes turns hugging the suspect and encourages him to change his life and get into a treatment program. Kelley’s father then hugs his broken son, kisses him on the cheek and tells him that he loves him.
This was a typical episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter, full of action and suspense. I enjoyed the show and especially liked the part at the end where the team shared their concern for the young fugitive and encouraged him to change his ways. I’m looking forward to watching more exciting episodes this season and following Lyssa throughout her pregnancy and the birth of her child.
