The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, this year, was like watching a mini reality show with a little fashion thrown in as filler. It was a great hour of fashion and entertainment. Heidi Klum made an appearance looking unbelievable, after giving birth less than two months ago.
The fashion show itself, had four separate themed lines: Futuristic, Transportation, Peace (1960s), and Forest. The final runway stint was a collection of various styles. My favorite style was Peace; it was a fun 1960s style with bright colors. The show also featured The Black Eyed Peas. They performed the opening song and again in the middle of the show.
This year, Victoria’s Secret did a nationwide search for the next angel.
Over 10,000 women applied via the Internet or at live interviews. Some of these girls were ridiculously conceited. One girl jumped up and accidently flashed the judges. Another girl tripped during the walk. The judges had to stop seeing people for a minute after one girl’s walk, just to stop laughing. Another girl said, “My friends are all jealous because I’m prettier.” The thing is, if she’s the pretty one, I would hate to see the other friends.
Of the 10,000 girls 10 were sent to New York, for boot camp. Most of the girls were cocky and arrogant. The ten were sent to Grand Central Station, for their first task. They had four minutes at a photo shoot to create the best photo. After this task the ten was knocked down to five. Every single one of the girls that said they had this task in the bag ended up going home.
The five remaining went to work out with David Kirsch, a renowned fitness instructor. He analyzed their bodies and designed workouts to help them with trouble spots. Of course, one girl said her body was perfect. David tore her apart, telling her she had bad legs and a flabby butt. After the workout, the two contestants that workout the most and impressed David got to stay. Kylie and Jamie Lee were the final two. They talked to press and went to the fashion show to work the runway before the show. America voted live last night in a 20 minute window to choose the next angel. Kylie was chosen and took the stage with the last section of girls.
During the finale, all the angels covered the stage and danced a bit. I’m fairly positive that the producers decided to throw in the bit about the search for a new angel to get more people watching the show. The show was great, although I enjoyed the search more than the actual show.
