Scrubs is a show near an dear to my heart.  I watched it in syndication back in college and moved mountains to catch the newest episodes when they came on.  My husband and I bonded over the show, anticipating every DVD release since we didn’t have cable at the time.  We watched these characters grow and compared our lives to them (I’m the Elliot in our group since I’m super klutzy).

Scrubs is changing.  Sacred Heart hospital has been uprooted and put on Winston University’s campus.  J.D. (Zack Braff), Turk (Donald Faison), Dr. Cox (John. C. McGinley), and Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) are all teachers on campus and the show is split between watching them and the students in the medical program.  The main focus in the student aspect is Lucy (Kerry Bishe) who takes on J.D.

as her mentor.  Dr. Cox takes great joy in torturing her and she pitifully attempts to stand up for herself.  If you’re a fan of Dr. Denise Mahoney (she was a bit character on the show who had a harsh attitude and bad bedside manner), she has a bigger part in this revamped show as a teacher and resident assistant to the students.

After watching this new format for an hour, I’m not entirely sure I like this change.  Lucy’s character, while naive like J.D., is not nearly as dynamic as her predecessor.  The character Cole (Dave Franco) is your basic, boring, spoiled rich kid and is dull to watch.  Maybe once the actors get more into the roles it will get better, but at this point I’m not impressed.
