With more surprises than LeMarchand’s Box, V wrapped up its fall season last night in a big way.

When the series started, V already had its work cut out for it. Being a remake of the 1980’s series where everyone already knows the twist (they’re lizards, people), the creators had to find a new way to build tension. By having engaging characters, inner turmoil, and enough action to keep even those on Ambien awake, they succeeded.

Last night was no different.

We learned that the V’s were planning to inject the population with R6, using our own flu vaccine against us. That is until the Scooby Gang (Ryan, Erica, Father Jack and Georgie) thwarted those plans by blowing up a warehouse full of the stuff.

Of course, we know there’s more, but for now all seems peachy keen.

Tyler, driven by his teenage hormones, met with Anna. She’s Lisa’s mom, don’t you know. Anna showed him the ships engine room, something no other human has seen. Tyler, being a guy’s guy, was smitten with it, and that only helped to feed his devotion to the V’s. We’re still not sure what his involvement is in the conspiracy, just that he’s “the one.”

I wasn’t sure if this series would bring in the angle of the Star Child, and was kind of hoping they wouldn’t, but low and behold, Valerie is pregnant with Ryan’s child. Valerie is a human, Ryan is a V; you do the math. We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.

News man Chad Decker, who has been skeptical of the V’s all this time, is discovered to have symptoms that will lead to a brain aneurysm in six months. Of course, they can cure him, but it would basically mean him giving up his soul in order to do so. Again, we’ll have to wait and see what he decides.

Only four episodes in and I’m already loving V. I like the twists and turns, the characters, the special effects. All of it. Those that say it bears a resemblance to the current administration can suck it. Those people never saw the original, which this current remake takes all of its flavor from.

Unfortunately, it’s not returning until March of 2010, so for now we’re stuck in rerun land. I’m not entirely disappointed, seeing as how I can watch the current episodes over and over (take note: those that say it’s an ABC fail, you’re already hooked), and still find something to enjoy.

I’m not one to fall in love with a show on a whim. It takes a lot to keep me interested. There have been only a handful of shows in my day to do so, and V is one of those shows. So, I’ll see you right back here in March, 2010, and together we’ll continue to unravel the conspiracy and see what those sneaky, sneaky V’s are up to.
