The Biggest Loser Contestants Learn to Manage Money and Weight

By Missy Armstrong on November 25th, 2009

With the season finale looming over the contestants’ heads, they remember how they came to the ranch and what they need to do to win. The transformation of all of these people is astonishing. The final person was eliminated tonight, leaving the final four to battle it out on the finale.

Financial expert Suze Orman came in to consult the contestants about their finances and to show them how much money being physically fit can save. The contestants then had to take a pop quiz on the treadmill. For every question they got right, $1000.00 was placed in a bank account for them. For every question they got wrong, they had to speed up the treadmill to the next level. Most of the contestants left with at least $3000.00 in an account. The answers to these questions really opened my eyes. The fact that America spends 147 billion dollars per year treating medical conditions caused by obesity was overwhelming. We only spend 90 billion dollars a year treating cancer.

The contestants were taken to a football field where they had a challenge.

The challenge had the contestants harnessed to barrels containing footballs that weighed the amount they lost each week. They contestants had to carry a football and place it on a stand, run back, grab the next football, until all of the footballs were placed. Rod Woodson came by to cheer on the contestants. The winner received a vacation for two to the Pro Bowl and $5000.00 of athletic equipment to the school of their choice. Allen won the competition.

Danny wrote a song about their journey on the ranch. The song was awesome! We also saw each person’s journey up to this point on the ranch. At the weigh-in, the contestants learned that the winner of the weigh-in would receive a visit from Curtis Stone, teaching them how to cook healthy at home.

The weigh-in went as follows:

Liz -5 lbs

Rudy -12 lbs

Allen -8 lbs

Danny -16 lbs (broke the record for most weeks in the double digits)

Amanda -7

This left Allen and Liz in the bottom two. During the vote, Allen was sent home. In the follow up, Allen is down to 220 lbs. he is healthy and happy. He started a Biggest Loser competition in the local gym with 275 people. After six weeks, they have lost 2,368 lbs.

Next week, we’ll see the finale. We’ll get a chance to catch up with all of the eliminated players and find out who really is The Biggest Loser.
