On this week’s episode of NCIS we are brought into a learning center for gifted kids. These kids actually are not being taught but are teaching the military on how to get their jobs done in the best straightforward manner without the lag of bureaucracy and other types of distracting elements.

The team is called in when a military officer is found shot in the head and strung up in the middle of a corn field dressed like a scarecrow. The team instantly figures that this is a body that the murderer actually wanted to be found. The body has gang letters cut into his arm just above where his hand once was but is now severed.

The man is an ex-gang member who got his life cleaned up and it appears at first glance that his old gang members had gotten revenge for him leaving the life of crime.

But when the NCIS team visits the learning center and speaks with a genius little girl the murdered man had bonded with, the obvious conclusion begins to tumble out of control.

Further investigation shows that the girl’s mother has been receiving large amounts of money from unknown sources. The team figures out that the little girl was able to translate secret Naval codes into artwork which were then sold to China. The story gets a little confusing as it seems the caretakers at the learning center are involved with the scheme but sincerely believe they are doing nothing wrong because they are just selling old codes to what they believe was a gaming company to help write video games.

In the end it is learned that the man who was one of the heads of the learning center is behind the murder of the military officer because the little girl had told him what they were doing.

Normally NCIS has everything in their scripts crisp and well thought out.  I may have missed it somewhere, but I assure you I looked, yet they never explained who used the dead man’s severed hand to enter the girl’s room. We got who killed him and why, but there was a small figure that used the hand to enter the little girls room and take the hidden codes, yet it was never made clear who that was… Did I just miss that part?

If you know who used the dead man’s hand or just want to speculate please  leave your comments and help get me on track with this thing.
