Season nine of Dancing With The Stars is over and I can’t believe it. All the eliminated stars came back for one action packed night of dancing. I was so happy to see some of the stars, others I could have done without.
The show had a sketchy start with a video malfunction but, the show recovered and went on smoothly. Whitney Houston performed twice. She performed “Million Dollar Bill,” from her new CD and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” She had the entire audience up on their feet and moving. She still has after all these years.
All of the eliminated stars came back and performed.
My favorites were Tom Delay’s Texas Two Step and Mark and Chuck’s Paso Doble. Tom Delay would have been so much fun to watch during the season, it’s too bad he was taken out because of an injury. Louie and Chelsea danced to “Puppy Love,” which was performed by Donny Osmond. The other performances were ok but nothing spectacular. I got the feeling they were just trying to fill the time, with random comedy bits and mediocre dancing.
The three finalists performed one last time for the judges. Kelly performed first with a beautiful Viennese Waltz. Mya and Dmitry revisited their Jive, which was fantastic as always. Donny and Kym performed last with a seductive Argentine Tango. Kelly came in third with 26 points, Mya came in second with 28 points and Donny came in first with 30 points.
Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice had a dance-off to find out who was the best ballroom dancer between the two of them. In this completion, the winner won a mirror ball ring instead of a trophy. The two performed a entertaining Paso Doble, like none other. In the end Michael won for his dancing and Jerry was also given a ring for the best body.
Mark Dacascos and Chuck Liddell also performed a wild Paso Doble, showcasing their fighting skills. This was a lot of fun to watch. I don’t think it would have won any awards, but it was fun nonetheless.
The votes were tallied and Kelly and Louis received third place. Mya and Dmitry came in second and Donny and Kym won this season. I was completely shocked. Mya has been the leader for so long, I just knew she would win. I was happy to see Donny come back and win. He looked like he worked really hard for that ball. Now we have to wait until the spring to get our Dancing With The Stars fix. Congratulations to Donny and Kym.
