On this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory we discover exactly how nerdy a nerd can be. Howard is on his third date with the girl Penny set him up with. The optimal word in the previous sentence is third date, a.k.a., the sex date. Well Howard doesn’t have a clue that this universal law of dating exists and so when his date brings up the subject of having sex he is totally caught off guard as only a nerd can be.
It was a very funny scene actually, but nevertheless when the big “C” word was brought up, that being the word commitment, Howard reacted in a truly manly manner and tried to take just the sex option.
Way to go Howard, you get to keep your man card!
Unfortunately, he turns around and goes all nerdy on us again as he jumps from one extreme and into another. After having a fantasy in his bath tube that included the lovely Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame, who like others in this episode, encourages Howard to have a go at making a commitment with Penny’s friend who really likes him. So, he runs to her job and proposes marriage to her – seriously… after three dates!
Gratefully he is turned down flat and made to look like an idiot in front of everyone in the restaurant. Lucky for us as viewers, we heard a great song that brought back memories of Woody’s Kelly Song (from Cheers). Make no bones about it, Howard’s song could actually go down as iconic, it was really that good.
The Big Bang Theory remains an awesome spectacle of ingenious comedy, that for the life of me, I don’t know why I’ve grown to love this show so much…I mean, other than the fact that it is very, very funny.
