With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, the Heroes gather with family and friends to evaluate what they are thankful for. Hey, it’s tradition, and you can bet that not everyone is thankful this holiday season, even if they are blessed with supernatural abilities.
At the Sullivan Brothers Carnival, Samuel continues to manipulate Hiro, holding Charlie over his head. Lydia and Edgar corner Hiro and ask him to help them find out what really happened with the night Joseph was murdered. Lydia has Hiro take her back to that night, and from the field, the two of them watch as Samuel confronts his brother about hiding the truth from him and holding him back. They watch as Samuel murders Joseph, and escape back to the carnival just before Samuel catches them in the field. At the dinner table, Samuel tells everyone that Edgar murdered Joseph, but before Edgar and exact revenge, Hiro freezes time and tells him to flee because a true hero sometimes has to run away so he can live to fight another day.
Hiro stands up to Samuel, and tells him he won’t do anything else for him until he has Charlie back, but Samuel has the upper hand. He erases Hiro’s memories, which triggers an automatic time-travel response, and Hiro disappears.
Noah convinces Claire to come to Thanksgiving dinner, begging her not to leave him alone with Sandra and her new boyfriend. While shopping for dinner, Noah runs into Lauren from Primatech, and invites her to dinner. Around the table, it’s an awkward mess, which Doug, Sandra’s boyfriend, tries to smooth over with the old family tradition of going around the table and saying what you’re thankful for. When it gets to Claire, she admits she has nothing to be thankful for, and is thinking about dropping out of college because she’s a freak. Noah argues with her, finally drawing her aside to talk to her about the choices she has. He shows her the compass Joseph gave him, and while they’re talking, a knock on the door draws him away. It’s Gretchen, who apologizes to Claire and admits she misses her. When the two leave dinner, Claire shows Gretchen the stolen compass and asks if she wants to go on an adventure. The two drive off in search of the Sullivan Brothers Carnival.
Angela arrives at Peter’s apartment to have Thanksgiving dinner with her sons, who immediately confront her about Nathan’s dead body in the storage unit. She tells them what she did, pushing Nathan’s memories into Sylar’s body, but during dinner, Sylar surfaces and attempts to kill Angela. Nathan’s soul struggles inside Sylar, holding him at bay before he resumes control of the body they share. Confused and at odds with his situation, Nathan flies off and Peter promises Angela that he will go after and find him to make everything right, even if it means he as to kill Sylar to save Nathan’s soul.
Whew! Somebody pass me the candied yams. After all that excitement, who wouldn’t be hungry? It looks like next week Peter is going to hunt down Nathan/Sylar and beat the Sylar out of his brother. As if. We all know Sylar is like the Engergizer Bunny. He takes a beating and keeps on breathing. Either way, I hope you’ll tune in with me next time to find out what the Heroes have to face next.
