The AMA Performances That Stole the Show (Videos)

The American Music Awards had a wide array of performances from all areas of the music industry. There were three performances, however, that stood out and have become the online favorites, with fans searching far and wide to view these over and over again. Below are the good, the bad and the .. uh … very strange.

Janet Jackson’s AMA Performance

Janet Jackson opened the show with melody of her old songs.  The music was great; however, I was distracted by her costume. This happened many times through out the night. I have no idea who designs these things, but 90 percent of the women performing were wearing clothes that were ridiculous. The melody did seem to drag on forever.  My son thought that her performance was the whole show.

Lady Gaga’s AMA Performance

Lady Gaga performed “Bad Romance” and “Speechless.” I like Lady Gaga’s music but I was having a hard time listening with the absurd costumes they were wearing.

At the end of Bad Romance she took the microphone stand and busted a glass box, to reveal a piano.  She then sang “Speechless” at the piano, with some little voodoo looking dolls. The piano had fire shooting out of it and it was quite the sight.

Adam Lambert’s AMA Performance

The show ended when the crazy train stopped in the middle of downtown crazy, with Adam Lambert’s debut performance of “For Your Entertainment.”  Some people are saying this was sexy, but all I saw was a insane display of S & M outfits and completely uncalled for dance moves. At one point I thought I might puke, when he grabbed a male dancer’s head and held it at his crotch. I was so happy my son had gone to bed by then.  If he is the future of music, give me the classics station please.

Personally, one of my favorite performances was Jay-z and Alicia Keys singing “New York.” There was not a lot of flash and gimmicks, it was just a really great performance by talented people. Sometimes less is more.  Throughout the night I keep thinking, “Are they giving away an award for most outlandish performance?” As the night went on the show got wilder and wilder.

Eminem and 50 Cent performed a new song of their album.  It was an awesome performance the only problem was that they cut out about 1/3 of the song for bad language. For most of 50 Cent’s performance we were looking at the guy’s mouth moving with no sound.
