Meet Recyclops, the most earth-friendly character in Dunder-Mifflin’s office. Every year on Earth Day, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) arrives at the office as Recyclops…but this year, he’s more about pollution and destruction than about saving the earth. Oh, Dwight. You never cease to amaze me.
So, last week, we found out that Dunder-Mifflin may be claiming bankruptcy. This week, we may just get more info on this rumor. Michael (Steve Carell) has been invited to the shareholders meeting, and he’s a little nervous about how he should greet the crowd when he is introduced. Should he wave and twirl around, or should he stay seated and bow? Michael has such difficult decisions to make.
If Michael thought that being personally invited by the company’s CEO was a big deal, wait and see how he reacts when a limo comes to pick him up. He’s so excited, in fact, that he asks Dwight, Andy (Ed Helms), and Oscar (Oscar Nunez) to come along.
Michael and the rest of the shareholders aren’t greeted with applause—they’re greeted with loud booing. Poor Michael. He thought he was going to have fun, and instead he’s getting booed at. All attempts he makes to satisfy the crowd fails miserably…until he promises a 45-Day Plan to get the company back on track. But can he come up with a plan? Doubtful. And the higher-ups of the company are not happy with Michael’s promises.
Back at the office, Jim (John Krasinski) is trying to keep the staff in line…and not doing a very good job. Ryan (BJ Novack) has sent an email to the Scranton office’s workers saying that Jim doesn’t have as much power as Michael as a manager. And everyone believes it. Therefore, Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) thinks nothing of taking a two-hour lunch and getting hammered at the same time. Phyllis is my hero.
But Jim does make his point known when he moves Ryan’s office into a storage closet. I never was a big fan of Ryan.
So, in the end, what do we know? Dwight is an articulate speaker. Michael will take the limo even if he’s told to take the bus. And Dunder-Mifflin’s stock has dropped over six points.
