Lost S5 Cast 600x300Anxious fans of ABC’s Lost can now mark their calendars and set their TiVo for February 2nd, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. ET. The series returns on its original night and time, kicking off the sixth and final season with a one-hour recap, followed by the two-hour season premiere event. The following week, on February 9, the series will air in its regularly scheduled timeslot on ABC, from 9-10 p.m. ET.

Originally, ABC had promised viewers a full seventeen episodes to end the series, but as an added bonus, it was announced back in June that an extra hour was added to the season, bringing the total number of episodes up to eighteen.

While many Lost fans are hoping for a concrete and solid answer to the abundant mysteries that have driven the series since season one, the writers have assured viewers that once season six ends, there will be no further opportunity to expand on unanswered questions.

They are committed to the season six finale being the last word on Lost, and though they hope to tie up as many loose ends as possible, in many cases fans and viewers have created their own curiosities, and it would be difficult to satisfy everything.

With Lost’s history to stun and bedazzle the mind, you can guarantee that whatever the writers have in store for the season finale, it will blow the mind of viewers everywhere. So make sure you mark down the premiere of the final season, which kicks off on February 2, 2010, at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC. I wonder if they’ll somehow tie it into Groundhog Day?
