With just a single episode, V has managed to shatter all misconceptions of who we can trust, and it’s only going to get better from here on in.

With the V’s now in possession of (V)isas, they are free to wander the city as they please, but not everyone likes the idea of having ugly lizard creatures parading around as humans. Most notably, Mary Faulkner. Her husband’s F-16 went down the day the V’s arrived, and she blames them. Armed with a press conference, she plans to take the reigns as the face of the protesters. Anna sways her opinion though, and thus that of the crowd.

A lone gunman has issued a death threat against the V’s for that day.

Erica, much to her dismay, is assigned a V as a partner and together they try and track down the would-be assassin. Together they find him, and Erica stops him from taking out Marcus, Anna’s right hand man. He’s quickly snatched up by the V’s for holding, leaving Erica out of the picture. She, however, has discovered a room filled with surveillance cameras, and wouldn’t you know it, those camera are embedded in every single Visitor jacket. Oh those sneaky V’s!

In the meantime, Ryan is hell bent on putting back together The Fifth Column, a group of V deserters who were once a very powerful resistance to the V’s. He visits Cyrus, an old ally, who in turn pulls a gun on Ryan and alerts the V’s to his presence. Some friend! Ryan quickly turns the tables though and bugs out before the V’s arrive. When they do, there’s a message spray painted on the door. JOHN MAY LIVES. Marcus takes one look at it and declares, “There will be no peace.” You got that right, buddy.

Father Jack Ryan tracks down Georgie and urges him to continue the fight against the V’s. Georgie is reluctant at first based on what happened at the warehouse, but he soon agrees. Ryan, Erica, Father Jack and Georgie all come together as the new faces of The Fifth Column emerge.

Erica’s former V in disguise partner, Dale, is trying to remember what happened that night at the warehouse. With the help of another V, Joshua, he recalls that Erica is the one who tried to kill him, and that she has seen his true face. Dale wants to go back down but Joshua won’t let him go. To Dale’s surprise, Joshua thinks that Erica would be a powerful ally. “The Fifth Column says hello,” mutters Joshua, as he kills Dale once and for all.

Lisa and Tyler get hot and heavy as Erica walks in on them half naked. This hides Lisa as being a V, and she returns to the mother ship, where Anna is thanking the would-be assassin, who was a V all along. She tells Anna that Tyler is the one (whatever that means), and Anna commends her for a job well done. “Thank you, mother,” says Lisa. Betcha didn’t see that coming!

With more twists and turns than a game of No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, V continues to please. I only hope that this show gets picked up to be a regular series next year, and we see the Visitors get what’s coming to them.
