This week’s The Vampire Diaries revolved around Bonnie. This is a change of pace from the normal drama on the show, but I’m not sure if I like it. There are two new possible vampires in town. Both of them are vying for Elena’s aunt Jena’s love.

We start with Bonnie dreaming about the ghost of her ancestor, Emily. Yes, she’s the one that was Catherine’s handmaiden. She was also a powerful witch.  She leads bonnie through the town to Fell’s Church, where the people died in the Civil War. She tells Bonnie, “Help Me, this is where it started; this is where it has to end.”

At school, they have a new science teacher who has a very old sounding name.

I was sure this dude is a vampire or a vampire hunter. He asked Jeremy to do some extra credit to bring up his grade. He wants a paper about the history of the town. He also has an old ring, very similar to Damon and Stefan’s ring.

Bonnie spills her guts to Elena and Damon tries to get Bonnie to give him a necklace she has in her possession. He tells her he knows about Emily’s ghost haunting her and the next time bonnie sees her to tell her, “A deals a deal.”  We discover the necklace was Catherine’s and she gave it to Bonnie before she died.

Caroline, Elena and Bonnie do a séance to contact Emily. The séance goes bad when Bonnie throws the necklace.  Bonnie finds it in the bathroom and is trapped in the bathroom screaming. When the doors open Bonnie is changed she says she has to go where it started to destroy the necklace. She is possessed by Emily. This is getting good!

Meanwhile at the grill, Jena and Jeremy are having supper and they see the creepy new history teacher there. He comes to the table and strikes up a conversation. Jena and Alaric, the new teacher,  begin to talk and hit it off.  Jeremy goes home to research history, in his dad’s old things. He finds an old picture of Jena and Logan, the reporter. He also finds an old diary.

Elena calls Stefan and tells him about Bonnie. Damon overhears them and tries stop her. She throws him against a tree. Stefan and Elena arrive and discover that Emily used the necklace to seal Catharine and the other 26 vampires in a tomb under the church on the same day it burned. Damon wants to use the necklace to release everyone in the tomb. Emily does a spell and destroys the necklace. Damon immediately attacks Bonnie, but she heals from the bite.

Elena proceeds tells Bonnie everything.  When Jena and Alaric come home he can’t come in without her permission. Yep, he’s a vampire. Later that night, Jena hears a knock at the door and it’s Logan, the same Logan that Damon killed two weeks ago. He must be a vampire or else Alaric is a shape-shifting vampire.
