Steve and Tango start the search for the next members to the Ghost Hunters team, in the series premiere of Ghost Hunters Academy. The class consists of five newcomers: Susan, Ben, Chris, Heathyr and Karl. Will these students have what it takes to make it in TAPS?

The season started with Jason and Grant, briefing the students on basic information about the team. Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango will be the professors in this non-traditional school of paranormal investigation. The class starts at an old TAPS investigation site.

Fort Mifflin, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The teachers take the students on a tour of the site.

Heathy refuses to take the tour, because she does not want to be influenced by the information. They discuss the difference between an EVP and a disembodied voice. Trust, team work, listening and an eye for detail seem to be the main lessons for the day.

Throughout the episode, we get to know the students better. We also discover Susan hid the fact she is feels the emotions of the spirits. This is a big issue for the team. Ben and Susan stopped investigating and said they were told to.  Ben tries to cover up the fact he left a digital recorder in a room and Susan tries to B.S. her way through questions. Steve and Tango are upset at the amount of deceit this crew has.

Not a lot happened during the investigation, besides some weird sounds and phantom smells. As the class moves in to the evidence review portion, the instructors give them a quick overview.

There was not a lot of evidence, with the exception of an EVP that sounds like someone saying the name of a student, Ben Smith. Before continuing, Steve and Tango have an evaluation season with Susan.  They decide to start over and not judge her, as long as she is honest and tells them everything.

This preliminary episode was all about the students and not enough about the investigation. I hope now that we know everyone, we will see the teams actually investigate and find good evidence.
