Heroes returns this week to explore the sorority house horror, Peter’s new ability and the battle between Matt and his inner-Sylar.
Claire convinces the other girls involved in the sorority house hunt that they must have drugged the water, otherwise, how else could they explain what they saw when Claire regenerated? Back at the dorm, Claire tries to find out why Becky wants to kill Gretchen. When she shows up at the sorority house, no one remembers what happened, and the Haitian walks out with Noah. When she returns to the dorm, Gretchen is leaving for home. Though Claire begs her not to go, Gretchen leaves.
Samuel shows up looking for Becky and tells Claire he knows about her special abilities.
Samuel tells her about the carnival family and tries to appeal to her sense of alienation with the idea of people who accept each other for what and who they are. Samuel tells her that Becky is not after Claire, but Noah, who killed her father when she was five years old. Noah comes in. He wants answers from Samuel, who claims he’s only trying to help Becky. Samuel points out to Noah that he should watch how he treats people like him in front of Claire. As they are leaving, Becky attacks Noah, but Samuel goes to help her. Noah draws his gun and pushes Claire to the ground, but she convinces him to let Becky and Samuel go. After the fact, Claire starts to see Noah in a new light, and the only friend she’s felt able to be herself around in years isn’t there to comfort her.
Behind the scenes, Peter has been using his new healing powers in his EMT work. He feels drained when using the ability, and worries that there are just too many people who need help. He doesn’t want to give up and be ordinary, even though the power is draining him. After he and Emma save a little girl in the hospital corridor, Peter convinces Emma to go back to school and finish her education to become a doctor.
Sylar tries to get Matt to tell him what happened to his body. At the airport, Sylar attempts to use Matt’s powers to divert security from the service gun they found in his bag, but he can’t wrap his mind around Matt’s ability. Once they get on the road, Matt continues to keep Sylar from getting to New York, but then an older gentleman stops to help them change a tire, and Sylar whacks the guy. He points out the Matt the difference between them, i.e., Sylar’s inability to distinguish the line most people would never dream to cross.
Later they are in the diner where Sylar saved Charlie. Sylar threatens Matt with more violence if Matt doesn’t start talking about what happened to his body. Matt tells Sylar about pushing Nathan’s memories into Sylar’s body with Bennett’s help. Sylar tells Matt he’s going to get his body back, then he plans to kill everyone who was involved in the plot. As they are leaving the diner, the police show up, and Matt throws himself in front of police fire to kill Sylar and himself.
Wow. Matt? Dead? I can’t stomach the thought. I hope they don’t leave us hanging too long to find an answer. Be sure to tune in with me next Monday for another shocking episode of NBC’s Heroes.
