This is not great Sci Fi. Great Sci Fi is something like the movie Bladerunner. This series pales in comparison to the world and atmosphere of Bladerunner. Sci Fi is suppose to light up your brain with all the possiblities of the future. There is little sci fi in this series that forces you about big questions.

Firefly is a very mediocre show, with high production value; smart, unrealistic dialogue. What is the appeal of watching a western-themed science fiction show. Why not skip the confusion and just make pure western. Not much bite, intensity, or grit to the stories and may have the effect of lulling you to sleep while watching, in the same way Northern Exposure would (though I loved that show). Shows today are getting better because they are making them more realistic. And Firefly is a show made in the formula of yesteryear. If you want to watch a show that will keep you wide awake and at attention…watch The Wire. So gritty you will forget you’re watching TV.

I LOVE Firefly!! Everyone I have ever showed this show to has loved it as well. It is by far my favorite show ever and my husband and I quote it frequently along with the movie. I don’t suppose there’s any way to bring the show back but in a timeline before the movie? I want my “leaf on the wind” back and I’m not the only one who was disappointed with that. But I still love Firefly and Serenity.

I share youjr experience, except my wife merey roles her eyes when more Firefly/Serenity merchandise arrives at home. I do get “How many times can you watch that?” Absolutely my favorite TV show, perhaps my favorite entertainment experience. A scifi fan for decades, I was taken by surprise how much joy and excitement this show generated in me: great characters, story, ‘verse. It is the only entertainment that finally tilted me (post-middle-age) to fandom,sending me to my first convention (the infamous B3), and to “converting” friends, family, co-workers, etc. (I keep a few DVD sets in stock to hand out to those who express interest or mere curiosity). I am amazed that 6 years later, I still enjoy the Firefly/Serenity ‘verse so greatly. Then, as said, I’m a Browncoat. Dong ma?!

I have loved every thing Joss has done and watch Firefly over and over along with Buffy and Angel. Still trying to get Dollhouse to grow on me, can’t seem to feel any love for the characters. Nathan was also in Buffy as very evil preacher, Summer Glau/River was in Angel and so was Adam. In fact Zoe/Gina Torres was also in Angel and Wash/Alan Tudyk was in Dollhouse. When Joss finds an actor he likes he stays with them. Just wish he would come up with a show for Spike/James Marsters. Spike was the best character ever on TV…IMO

Ha! My local S. Bay friends call Mal “Capt tight pants”. And having the nod in the Castle episode was classic! Why they kill off good original programming is beyond me yet they keep recycling stupid Star Gate.

Witty banter and a hooker with a heart of gold right on the ship… who could fail with that?

And lets not forget the fan boys and girls who dress up as firefly characters for cosplay and steam punk gatherings. Browncoat film what??!!

Don’t forget Mark Sheppard. He’s turned up in a number of syndicated shows since ‘Firefly’. [Battlestar Gatlactica; president of the known 'verse, baby!]

I recommend the Firefly comic books and the new charity Browncoat film, slated to be released next year. ‘Browncoat:Redemption’.

Saw the ad in TV guide . Had to watch even though Fox signal was crud . LOVED it . Instant Browncoat shininess . Had to have DVDs, find other fans & spread the word & have been doing so ever since . Got the BDM too .
Possibly the Best TV Show Ever .

I picked up Fire Fly after buying the Serenity Movie and I loved every minute of it, the fact that I’m still watching it and reading about it after its been canceled for so long shows my love for the show. Excellent Article Michael
