On this week’s episode of Flashforward the investigation continues as the team tracks down an underground movement of people who did not experience a flashforward event.  These people believe they will be dead within the next few months and they choose to commit group suicide instead of waiting for their death to come naturally.

The Flashforward FBI team track down this origination whose trademark is a blue hand. They gain entrance into the suicide party by playing a dangerous game of Russian Roulette.  Al takes up the pistol without hesitation and clicks the trigger believing that since he saw his future he wouldn’t be killed, and so he was right.

Inside they breakup the suicide party and take a man into custody. While being interrogated the man lays some extremely logical and compelling reasons why the future must come true and that is why it doesn’t matter if he and others simply choose to take their own lives.

Mark and Olivia continue to be distant with each other and their marriage seems to be on the brink of collapse. Demetri finally confesses to his fiancé Zoey that he did not see anything in his flashforward and that he believes he is going to be dead before they get married, yet Zoey insists that she saw him in her flashforward. The fact that the two have conflicting flashforwards promises to offer an interesting storyline for future episodes.

We learn that there was more to Al’s flashforward than he had originally let on. We learn that in the near future he will accidentally kill a woman leaving her two children as orphans. He concludes that the only way to save the woman’s life is to make it so their paths never cross. And the only way to guarantee that is if he is dead.  So decides to sacrifice himself to save her and steps off the roof the FBI building.

It turns out that the future indeed can be changed, but the cost obviously can be drastic. I continue to find Flashforward an incredibly emotional series that still has so much potential to eventually become one of the best shows on television.
