This week on The Good Wife, Alicia is working on an appeal for a death row inmate named Clarence Wilcox.  Clarence was convicted of killing an off duty cop when he robbed a convenience store.  An eyewitness claimed Clarence did it and put him behind bars for six years.  They lose the appeal, but after being approached by Clarence’s wife, Alicia decides to try to overturn the case.

Cary beats her to the chase and they are asked to work together.  Apparently Clarence’s wife met with Cary after she met with Alicia and gave him the same picture.  They do some digging and talk to the eyewitness, a med student who says that she stands by her previous statement.  Alicia and Cary are worried about their outcome until Kalinda shows them that the cops led the witness on during her testimony.  The witness said that a man in a Bulls sweatshirt killed the cop and they made Clarence keep on his Bulls sweatshirt for the six pack and the lineup.  In order to get the court to disregard the cop’s testimony, Kalinda pushes Alicia to meet with her husband for a conjugal visit to get more information for the case.  Conjugal visits are not recorded by the police and thus she could get information from Peter privately.

Alicia does the visit but only to save the case.  Peter tells her the cop, Mr.

Shores, planted evidence before and gives her case numbers so she can get the judge to disregard.  She makes Peter sleep on the floor as she’s still not comfortable being near him.  She shows the judge the evidence and he does decide to disregard Mr. Shores’ testimony.

While Alicia has her visit, Cary and Kalinda go out searching for another suspect.  Up turns Michael Parsons who robbed four convenience stores and used the same terminology as the Clarence Wilcox robbery.  Unfortunately, Michael Parsons passed away in prison after being convicted of those robberies.  They take his picture and Clarence Wilcox’s to the eyewitness after they switch the faces so Clarence isn’t wearing the Bulls sweatshirt.  The eyewitness is mortified she got it wrong.  She bawls on the stand, apologizing to Clarence, saying that it was Michael Parsons who killed the cop.  The judge overturns his ruling and Clarence is set free.

I think this was the first episode that I actually liked Cary.  I’ve wanted to throttle the little twit in the past, but I think he’s started to redeem himself.  Julianna Marguiles did really well at playing an awkward Alicia during the conjugal and you could feel the tension coming through the television.  I can’t wait to see what happens next week!
