In this week’s episode, “Bloodsport,” the CSI team searches to find the answers to three different murders. The team must figure out how a dead coach, a dead girl in a sunken car, and a six month old unsolved murder are linked together.
The episode opened at a football game. Then we see an alarm clock go off and a bloody hand hit it. The bloody, mangled body of the coach gets out of bed, brushes his teeth, pours coffee, and walks outside for the paper where he drops down dead. When the team arrives they discover he was beaten to death.
Meanwhile Greg (Eric Szmanda) and Sara are pulling a car out of the lake.
The car was reported stolen six months ago and there is a dead girl inside. If you love gruesome images this episode is for you. The girl was decaying and the coach from earlier was not a pretty site. Greg finds a purse in the car and identifies the decaying woman as Page. A gun was also found in the car and Greg runs a ballistics match. The gun was used six months before in the murder of a young man also found by the lake.
As Ray, Nick and Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) investigate the coach’s home, they discover a trophy and a football are missing. A bloody shoe print is also found at the scene. Nick discovers the missing trophy is the weapon the coach was beaten with.
Upon investigation of the coach’s computer, it is discovered that a number of harsh e-mails where sent to and from one of the players on the team. The player, Gavin, also owned a pair of the shoes that made the footprint in the blood. One of the e-mails included an article about the dead guy in the unsolved murder.
The car in the lake and the coach’s car both came from one car dealership. Pal, the guy that runs the dealership is the booster president of the football team.
They discover that Pal had Page at his house as a prostitute for a football party. The coach saw Gavin at the party and was upset. Pal was taking page home when they had a wreck and the car went out of control, sinking into the water. Pal escaped but Page could not. She shot the window out and killed the other guy who was trying to save her. Pal runs home and Coach discovers the incident.
Coach’s trophy is finally found in the trash truck along with bloody shoes. Fingerprints on the trophy belonged to Gavin. He killed the coach because he wasn’t playing him enough and jeopardizing his chances in the draft.
This episode reminds me of the early episodes of CSI. There weren’t a lot of personal issues or problems just crazy cases. It was great. The show was full of twist and turns. Just when you thought you had it figured out, everything changed.
