Pennhurst

America Haunts 3 is a collection of four great haunted attractions in America. These attractions range from a spooky corn fields to a real abandoned insane asylum. If you’re looking for a truly terrifying Halloween experience, any of these attractions will quench your thirst for terror.

The show started off with a visit to the world’s largest haunted house convention in St. Louis, Missouri. This convention displays the newest technologies in the haunted house world. There were air cannons, water shooters, computer generated graphics and much more. If you are having a haunted house, this is the convention to attend.

Spookywoods, Greensboro, NC

Spookywoods has day and night attraction for the whole family. This is more than another haunted house. They have 250 employees that work in the woods, cemetery, corn field and haunted house. The owners even have remote controls for their flashlights, which conveniently go off before a big scare.

Nightmare on 13th, Salt Lake City, UT

This is a huge attraction that ushered through 65,000 visitors last year. This haunted house has a pre-show for all visitors before they even enter the haunted house. They have various themed areas visitors go through that include an Aztec temple, a volcano, a vampire’s layer, an asylum maze and a padded cell.

ScareHouse, Pittsburgh, PA

This attraction is in a 1900’s building, which is creepy enough. They have three themes in their haunted house: a hall of nightmares, inside delirium’s brain, and rampage. The hall of nightmares is a traditional style haunted house. Delirium’s brain is a freaky rave that goes horribly wrong. Rampage is a loading area similar to a war zone with guns, cannons, chainsaws and a machine gun shooting at you.

The Pennhurst Institute of Fear, Spring City, PA

The Pennhurst Insane Asylum is reportedly the most haunted area of Spring City. This institute had its own schools, baseball fields, stores, morgue and everything else needed to run the asylum.  Now, a group of haunted house enthousist has bought the land and is turning this old, decrepit location in to the world’s scariest haunted house. The team hopes to have the attraction open in Oct of 2010. They sent a group of ten people into the building to test their ideas.  The people came out so scared that a few were crying.

All of these places were really scary. Any one of them would make a great place to visit for Halloween.  I can’t wait for The Pennhurst Institute of Fear to open. I am already making plans for a trip to Pennsylvania next year. We might just drop by the ScareHouse while we’re there.
