This episode, we pick up where we left off: with Lundy (Keith Carradine) and Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) shot down by a mystery shooter. As the episode picks up, we see Dexter (Michael C. Hall) frazzled, freaking out, worried about his sister. “If Deb dies, I’ll be…lost,” his interior voice tells us. We get to see Dexter in a different role than we’re used to seeing: the caretaker, the worried brother…the human.

Lundy’s dead, and I have to admit that I’m not all too broken up about it. It just didn’t happen soon enough, as Deb has already screwed up her relationship with Anton (David Ramsey).

But enough of that talk—right now is the time to be worried about Deb, our foul-mouthed and beloved detective. I don’t know about you, but I think Deb needs a hug. Watching her sob at the location of Lundy’s death actually brought tears to my eyes. What can I say? I’m a softy.

The big question is: who shot Deb and Lundy? The possibilities seem endless: is it the jealous boyfriend Anton? I think not. His face as he enters the hospital room is that of a worried, concerned boyfriend…not of a psychopath shooter. Has the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) struck in an unconventional way? Or is it connected to the Vacation Murders?

Angel (David Zayas) comes up with a way to bring the couple attached to the Vacation Murders out in the open…and it works.

Dexter takes it upon himself to sort through Lundy’s notes regarding the Trinity Killer, hoping that he’ll find something out. When we pick up with the Trinity Killer, he’s buying a hammer, then staking out the site of his next kill with the building’s security guard. Dexter’s supreme skills bring him to a surveillance room where he watching Trinity kills his third victim…and gets a clear view of his face. Dexter follows Trinity to his home and prepares to meet his match…until Trinity’s front door is opened by the serial killer’s wife and the serial killer is greeted by his children.

On the Rita and Dexter front, the news is grim: Rita (Julie Benz) has found out about Dexter keeping his apartment, and she’s not happy about it. He seems to be awfully good at lying, and Rita’s getting worried.

Theirs isn’t the only relationship that’s on rocky grounds. Maria (Lauren Velez) has disclosed her relationship with Angel against his wishes. But they patch it up in record time with the cute little motto “No more secrets.” Unfortunately, it looks as though Angel is going to have to be transferred so that the romance between he and Maria doesn’t cause issues with any cases they work together. I hate it! I certainly hope that Angel doesn’t leave the show. He’s one of my favorites.

I can’t wait to watch Dexter’s in-depth stalking of the Trinity Killer, but I guess I’ll have to wait until next week.
