In the latest episode of ABC’s new hit show Flashforward the Mosaic investigation is in danger of being shut down because of the lack of governmental funding. The team heads to Washington, D.C., to stand before a Senate intelligence review board spearheaded by FBI Assistant Director Wedeck’s past rivals.

This Senator seems to have a tangled history both with the President of the United States as well as with Wedeck. It is apparent that both men have a dislike for the woman, but she is a Senator that apparently has a lot of political pull in Washington.

FBI Special Agent Mark Benford is literally taken apart by the Senate panel and it appears to be a certainty that the Mosaic investigation will not get the funds it needs to continue tracking down leads.

Throughout this episode of Flashfoward, it’s pointed out that Wedeck left Washington mainly because he didn’t like the backstabbing and political angling that was the daily routine in the nation’s capital.

Yet, it is ironic when we learn that despite is his distaste for the political games, he was one of the best players on the board during his time in Washington.  This becomes apparent as he blatantly blackmails the President with a photo showing the woman the President secretly had a child with, in order to get him to push through the funding for the Mosaic project.

The price the President has to pay is a high one as he has to name the very Senator who heads the Senate intelligence review board as the replacement to the now vacant vice president position, a position vacated by the death of the former vice president, who died during the blackout.

One of the biggest negatives in Mark’s testimony in front of the Senate hearing was that he could only remember about 40 seconds of his flash-forward and what he could remember was hazy. After the Senate hearing Mark finally confesses to Wedeck that he couldn’t remember everything in his flash-forward because six months into the future he would be drunk at the time.

This was the best episode of Flashforward so far in its first season. This was one of those episodes that had a lot of emotion and tension, plus some shootouts and fast-paced action. A lot went on in this episode that makes you eager to find out what will happen next week.
