The team from Destination Truth head up a mountain to investigate reports of the paranormal in a lost Incan city, then it’s on to the Alaskan wilderness to track a mysterious giant bird. Will Josh Gates and his team find the truth or be left with more mysteries?
Haunted Lost City, Peru
The reports of a lost city feared by its neighbors and stories of hidden treasure enticed the team. They were off on an adventure. The team was headed to the lost city of First Light, pearched high on a mountain in Peru. Residents of the towns in the valley below have seen ghostly figures, lights, and heard sounds coming from the lost city.
Legends say that the inhabitants of the city buried treasure in tunnels beneath the city.
Because the trek to the city is a long and torturous one, the team has to rent a room for the night. The hotel they stayed in had to be a ½ a star, it was such a dive. The shower was like a giant death trap. The team heads out in the morning with some local guides and horses. Half way up the mountain the horses get spooked and run away.
They set up camp inside the city. Sharra and Bicha stay behind to monitor the cameras at the base camp. Rex, Jael and Josh investigate the ruins. They see a slight heat signature on the thermal. It is still and does not change shape. The team starts hear strange noises that don’t sound like a human or animal. The team hears the sound of something yelling or crying. Josh almost kills himself when he falls into a tunnel entrance. They send a camera in the tunnels. A flash passes in front of the camera a couple of times.
Josh runs the evidence to Ghost Hunters Dave Tango and Steve Gonsalves. Steve and Dave think that the thing that passed in front of the camera could be paranormal. Josh and his team also picked up an EVP of voice saying “No” from the tunnel and “touch him.”
Thunderbird Triangle: Manokotak, Alaska
In Alaska, there is a legend of a giant winged creature called the Thunderbird. The rumors are that the creature’s wingspan is between 15 and 30 feet. So the team head to Alaska to go bird watching. The Team has to fly into Dillingham, and then snowmobile to the small village of Manokotak. They travel into the wilderness and set up base camp. The team sets up infrared and motion sensitive cameras. The motion sensitive cameras are rigged with bait: fish and beef.
They experienced a large bird flying over their head. They also heard some noises. The motion cameras catch something and the bait was eaten. They took the pictures to an avian expert. The findings were inconclusive.
This episode provided compelling evidence about the lost city. Unfortunately, we were not so lucky with the Thunderbird. Maybe we can revisit the Thunderbird again in the future.
