So, as you remember, last episode culminated with the majority of Sam Crow ending up in jail, just as the reasonable Jax (Charlie Hunnam) predicted. So we pick up this episode with our favorite motorcycle club members decked out in orange and discussing the logistics of what they’re up against.

Clay (Ron Perlman) ruffles the feathers of the white supremacists when he meets with the head honcho of the black prisoners, and we can all just imagine the retaliation this is going to spark. Sam Crow is looking for protection, and there are a couple of things they need to take care of first, including setting up a dude name Dion.

One of the most uncomfortable—and hilarious—moments in this episode is when Juice (Theo Rossi) is set up as bait for Dion, a large black man who loves having sex with white boys. The discomfort across Juice’s face as he waits for the crew to come in and deliver a beating to Dion is classic.

But what’s not so classic is the shanking that Juice receives from the white supremacists after he has completed his mission. Poor Juice. He always gets the crappy end of the bargain.

The time has come for Jax and Clay to make amends…but who will give in, if either of them give in at all? As Bobby (Mark Boone Junior) says to Jax, “This club needs a healing, brother. And you got to be the one to deliver it.” But the Jax/Clay conflict doesn’t end with them singing “Kumbaya”…it ends with a bunch of punches and a lot of blood.

The good news? One of my favorite actors, Tom Everett Scott, made an appearance as Clay’s attorney. I just love surprises like that! Anyway, our lawyer friend talks to Gemma (Katey Sagal), who is desperate to get her men out of jail…and running into roadblocks everywhere she turns.

Opie (Ryan Hurst) was lucky enough to avoid arrest, and he’s having a tough time holding down the fort while the rest of his crew is behind bars. Not only is he running around and trying to fix things for SAM CRO, he’s also playing daddy to his kids while his mother is off “looking for her husband”. With someone as unstable as Opie, this is all sure to blow up in his face. As expected, his unsuccessful set-up ends with Opie yelling, “Officer down!” into a CB radio. With help from Tara (Maggie Siff), Gemma and porn star Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli), maybe Opie will make it through.

Thankfully, this episode ends on a slightly happy note as our beloved Sam Crow members are out on bail…but the homecoming is anything but joyous.

With every episode that passes, I fall a little bit more in love with Jax…but who can blame me?
