Vampire stories have been with us for hundreds of years, transcending the mediums in which the stories are told. Originating in European folklore, they’ve made the transition to each new platform, from books to radio, silent film to the big screen, and finally to the television. Some of the best-known vampires are featured here, from Barnabas Collins, the unexpected highlight of the soap opera Dark Shadows to Nick Knight, who seeks redemption for his sins as a police officer in modern-day Toronto. Here are five of the top vampires on television to help inspire you this Halloween season.

this amazing, im a vampire i suck on my blood, i bite others, and think everybody smells delicious even if they dont have any smell. for me its hard to maintain my purpose and to me i think its best for no one to know who i really am. i dnt have fangs,my skin is always cold, but im not pale. im hispanic and i love my culture, but the vampire in me needs more than culture... i need blood, so now i will go to others and buy them out, if you kno wat i mean. good luck to you all in missouri. and for all of you who've never given thought how you will die, but you'll die in the hands of the ones who drank your blood.
