There’s one in every neighborhood: a spooky family everyone is always talking about, peeking through their curtains to try and figure out what is really going on over there. Despite their bizarre habits and behavior and in many cases, their quirky appearance, TV’s spookiest families draw in viewers like a moth to a flame. Just be careful you don’t get burned … or eaten.

The Osbournes
While they may not be fictitious, survey says the Prince of Darkness and his wacky brood were one of the spookiest TV families around. For three years, from 2002 until 2005, rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon hit the TV airwaves with their two kids, Jack and Kelly in tow.

Getting inside the real life of a famous family was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen, as the Osbourne’s spared no expense or extremity while the cameras were rolling, letting the world in on some of their darkest, every day secrets. Anyone that willing to publicly expose their personal life is pretty spooky, as far as I’m concerned.

The Fishers
There is nothing more unsettling than boldly staring into the face of death, despite normal, every day living. The Fisher family of HBO’s Six Feet Under explored a sense of creepiness that most of us can never possibly imagine. Life inside the funeral home, despite constantly dealing with death, must go on, and as the series touched on some of the strange issues one would develop in that setting, it also demonstrated the need to continue living despite death. While we may consider the Fisher family creepy, it is likely that in the face of death itself, they may very well be more equipped to deal with it than most people.

The Winchesters
Brothers Sam and Dean Winchester from the series Supernatural make the list on account of their penchant for hunting and slaying the supernatural. Their desire to hunt and exterminate monsters stemmed from the boys’ father, who disappears early in the first episode and brings the brothers together to search for him. Getting involved with a guy like that could get a girl possessed by demons, or even killed, on fact, that’s exactly what happened to their mother. So next time you meet a pair of brothers who say they like to hunt monsters, girls, think twice about where the future is leading you.

The Munsters
If you happen to live on Mockingbird lane, then the Munster family is probably at the top of your list of spooky families. This entire family full of monsters originally spooked TV families once a week from 1964 until 1966, and has managed to remain in the fires of rerun history ever since. This fun-loving family explored working class America through the eyes of a quirky, monster family. The series was so popular, it endured a two year revival in the 1980s that didn’t enjoy the same following as the original, but managed to inspire new generations of fans to fall in love with the 1960s original.

The Addams
While you may think it’s a toss up between the Munsters and the Addams, as far as I’m concerned, The Addams Family far outranked The Munsters when it came to spook factor. From the undying romance between Morticia and Gomez to the morbid antics of the couples’ two children Wednesday and Pugsley, this creepy family spawned from the mind of Charles Addams and originated as a one panel cartoon in the New Yorker that endured for fifty years. Running during the same time span as the Munsters, the Addams family also went on to the big screen and even found their way to video game fame. While equally wacky and quirky when compared to the Munsters, there’s just something about the way the Addams romanticize the darkness that earns them the title of TVs spookiest family.

No matter how creepy the family, be it on TV or off, the entertainment factor of their antics will continue to dazzle audiences for centuries to come. Next time you take a break from spying on your neighbors, tune in to one of the spooky families mentioned above for the ultimate in creepy family fun!
