On the latest episode of ABC television’s new hit series Flashforward, we find that many people are starting to come to grips with their vision of the future, while others are still being haunted by them.

For FBI Special Agent Mark Benford, played by Joseph Fiennes, the department appears to be running out of patience with the dead ends his investigation seems to be running into. Mark see each new revelation as a breakthrough in his self appointed mission to discover who was behind the global flash forward event.

His position is that because they were shown what could happen in the future, it gives them the opportunity to change it.

This is a totally different perspective than everyone else around him. It seems the entire world believes that the future they saw is inevitable and no matter what, the future is going to happen just as they saw it.

There are contradictions as well as supporting evidence to both sides. Mark’s wife, played by Sonya Walger, is fighting the vision she saw of herself being with another man, the very same man who has a son she has to take care of in the hospital.  She almost kills a man because she refused to believe in his flash forward. True, it was fairly outlandish because he is a Caucasian male who saw himself in the future as a confident black man. It all sounded far-fetched until the research was done on a medical condition that causes the pigment in your skin to change. The patient went into surgery care-free because he believed that his vision of the future was true and knew he would come out of the surgery just fine.

This episode of Flashforward finally produced the face of someone involved in the flash forward event and as it turns out, the man Mark’s wife is supposed to leave him for within the next five months is one of the men involved in the event that caused untold thousands, if not millions of people to lose their lives.
