On his eternal search for the truth, Josh Gates and the Destination Truth crew pair up this week with Syfy’s Ghost Hunters International members Dustin Pari and Robb Demarest and head south of the equator to Peru in search of a mysterious monster in the jungle called the Chullachaqui before braving the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.

The Chullachaqui

In the jungles of Peru, a mysterious monster known to locals as the Chullachaqui draws in the crew plus two to investigate claims by natives of violent attacks. Joined by Dustin Pari and Robb Demarest of GHI the team must first gain permission from the local tribesman before they begin their investigation.

With the blessing of a local shaman and instructions about where they might find the Chullachaqui, the team sets up base camp and immediately begins investigating the dangerous jungle area. With some of the most poisonous snakes on the planet awaiting in the dense jungle, they dive in and begin their search. One of the trademarks of the Chullachaqui is a strange whistling sound, which Robb and Jael hear early in the investigation. After leaving the trap camera, Robb and Jael encounter a loud, unidentified sound that Josh wants them to investigate. Robb explains to Josh that he feels that whatever it is they saw has intelligence, and that it might even be baiting them.  Josh follows the whistling sound into the water, but they find nothing and head back to the jungle, where Josh steps in quicksand. Collecting some foothprints and a few teeth along the way, they journey back to the States and Josh has the evidence analyzed by a professional.

The evidence suggests that whatever they were hunting turned out to be some kind of wild swine.

The Bermuda Triangle

For years, the Bermuda Triangle did not seem to be performing its usual disappearing act, but recently a passenger plane disappeared that prompted Josh and the crew to head down to Bermuda to investigate. Josh speaks with a local woman who’s brother, a pilot, disappeared in the Triangle. She explains that when the plane returned, the people inside vanished. The team decides to challenge the Triangle by plotting a direct route through three areas that have reported disappearances.

Josh first tracks the area by plane, noting any strange EMF activity before touching back down and investigating by land and water.  Josh meets with another witness just outside of South Bimini, who warns him about the dangers he faces by trying to document the lights in the water. By boat, Josh heads out to try and catch a glimpse of the mysterious lights. In the water his compass goes haywire and they lose power. It takes forever to get the boat started again, but when they do, they return to the shore only to discover Bicha is lost. The team recovers Bicha and upon analyzing the evidence back in the States, they learn that they captured some weird phenomenon on camera.

If I were you, I’d take Josh’s advice and steer clear of Bimini Island while traveling. No one knows where the people disappear to, but I certainly wouldn’t want to find out first hand. Let’s tune in next week together to find out what Josh and the Destination Truth team have in store. Whatever it is, you can guarantee it’ll be an adventure.
