Nigella Feasts: Fun Food gives viewers an idea for a full Halloween meal that is delicious and fun. Nigella gives us instructions on how to create Blood and Guts Potatoes, Ritz Chicken Nuggets, Iced Cookies and Slime soup. These recipes can be used together to make one fabulous meal or individually for tasty Halloween snacks.
Blood and Guts Potatoes

These are baked potatoes with a twist. Bake the potatoes for one hour at 425 degrees. Cut the potatoes in half and “disembowel” them or spoon out the middle and place the insides in a bowl. Leave the potato skins out, we will use them later. Mix in two squirts of ketchup and 3 balls of mozzarella cheese (chopped up into squares). Mash together in the bowl.
Next, spoon into the potato skins. Squirt some blood(ketchup) across the top and cook for 15 minutes on 425. I told my family about this recipe and they are all dying for me to make it.
Ritzy Chicken Nuggets

Take about four chicken breasts and cut them into strips, nuggets or scary shapes for Halloween. Marinate the chicken in 2 cups of buttermilk or yogurt. Crush up about 1/2 a box of Ritz crackers or seasoned crackers in a bag. Shake or roll the chicken in the cracker crumbs. Place the chicken on a baking sheet and cook for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.
Capery Salad
Of all the recipes on this show, this is the one most children will not care for. Rip up a head of romaine lettuce. Add in two tablespoons of drained capers. Chop up two gherkins then add them into the lettuce and capers. Take two teaspoons of gherkin juice and mix it with two tablespoons of olive oil and one dollop of mustard. Toss the salad. The salad will taste similar to tartar sauce.
Icing Cookies

Find a collection of ghoulish cookie cutters before you begin. Mix 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and 1/2 cup of sugar. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and one spoon of flour. Once that is mixing, add in an egg. Add another 1 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and one pinch of salt. Wrap in plastic and place in the fridge for half an hour. Roll out the dough until it is about a quarter of an inch thick. Drip the cutters in flour and cut the cookies. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. For the icing, mix 1-1/4 cup of powdered sugar with one cup of hot water. you can add food dyes or pastes of any color.
Slime soup

Boil three cups of vegetable broth, then add in three cups of frozen peas. Boil the peas for 10 minutes, while you cut up one ball of mozzarella cheese. Put the cheese in the blender, then pour the peas on the top. blend until almost smooth. It is ready to serve.
These recipes seem very easy to do and they can turn a meal into a fun feast for Halloween. I can’t wait to try the slime soup and blood and guts potatoes.
