Last night was the final night where three chefs were reduced down to the final winner of Hell’s Kitchen! Left to battle it out were Dave, Ariel, and Kevin; each with his or her own special talents. Each has also overcome pitfalls along the way. Nobody has come through this huge challenge with a spotless record, so it is difficult to tell at this point who will be the winner and become head chef at Araxi in Whistler, British Columbia.
The challenge had the chefs putting together dishes from different parts of the world. Ariel chose Chinese, Kevin chooses Mexican, and Dave was left with Indian.
Although he has never cooked Indian food before, Dave wins the challenge with his pork tenderloin.
At dinner service, each chef must take a turn at running the kitchen and putting the food together for the diners. Chef Ramsay will be grading them on how well they recognize the good food from the bad food and how well they are able to lead the kitchen.
Based on this dinner service, one chef must be sent home, only to narrowly miss the chance to be in the Hell’s Kitchen finale. Sadly, Ariel must be sent packing, leaving Dave and Kevin to compete to become the head chef at Araxi.
The chefs must now turn Hell’s Kitchen into their own restaurants. They are each given half of the restaurant to decorate in their own style. They must also come up with their own menus. They must lead their kitchen which is full of previous Hell’s Kitchen competitors that will be working for them.
At this point I didn’t know who I was rooting for to win. Kevin has been the most consistent throughout the season, but Dave has been killing it while only using one arm and dealing with a lot of pain. Kevin seems like he is ready to take on the head chef position at Araxi. Dave still seems a little young, but this can also work to his advantage.
And the winner is (drum roll, please) Dave!

Go Dave! He was a little smug all along, but he kept his eye on the prize and I think he deserved it!
