Last week on The Amazing Race, the teams ended in Vietnam with Zev and Justin in second to last place. This week, the teams left Vietnam and headed to Cambodia. This episode was a roller coaster ride of emotions, ending in one team being disqualified because they lost a passport.
The teams left the pit stop and headed toward the airport. All but two teams bought tickets for a 12:25 pm flight. The other two teams were placed on standby. They did get on the flight.
Once in Cambodia, they had to locate the Foreign Correspondence club, locate the editor and ask for their next assignment in a whisper.
Meghan and Cheyne had trouble when he kept asking the wrong question. Each team was given a photo of Jackie Kennedy on her trip to Cambodia in 1967. They had to find the hotel in the picture, find her suite and get the next clue. I was amazed at how little the teams know about American history. Only two people in the race, Gary and Zev, knew it was Jackie Kennedy. All the other teams thought it was a queen or person of power in Cambodia. What school did these people go to? I don’t understand this. As soon as I saw the picture, I knew it was Jackie Kennedy.
At the detour, the team chose between cover and wrap. In cover, the teams had to travel to a helmet stand and sell four helmets to a family of four for ten dollars. In wrap, the teams travel to a Russian market, find a scarf seller, and then match a scarf they are given to a person in the market. All of the teams except Lance and Keri chose wrap and many of them had difficulty matching the scarfs. Zev and Justin were the first to complete this. They then had to travel by foot, about two kilometers, to find their next clue.
At the road block, the teams had to wear a monkey mask and tail and complete three monkey maneuvers. Once they completed this, they headed to the pit stop, which was a Buddhist Shrine. Zev and Justin came in first, but then realized they lost Zev’s passport. They had until the last team checked in to find the passport and bring it back. Sam and Dan checked in first place, followed by Flight Time and Big Easy, Brian and Ericka, Gary and Matt, Meghan and Cheyne, Lance and Keri, Mika and Canaan and Maria and Tiffany. Unfortunately, Zev’s passport was never found.
I was very upset to see Zev and Justin eliminated in this way, but you have to follow the rules and have a passport to leave the country. There wasn’t a lot of fighting on this episode in teams, which is a little disappointing. Next week, the teams travel to Dubai, where they will have to battle heights, fast cars, heat and ice.
