This is a classic episode of The Office. I literally feel as though I have seen history in the making. Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) are getting married…at Niagara Falls…with most of the cast of The Office. But during all of this, we are consistently reminded of the embryo living in Pam’s belly…because she’s hyper-sensitive to perfume and soap…and she doesn’t want anyone to mention the pregnancy.
You have to feel bad for Pam. But you also have to kind of feel for the other Dunder-Mifflin workers. They didn’t plan on Pam getting preggers, did they?
I, in particular, am in love with Angela’s (Angela Kinsey) attitude. She reminds me of a Victorian doll, one that is stuck up and WAY behind the times.
And then there’s Andy (Ed Helms), who tries to turn everything into a party.
He’s just so naïve and wonderful. He pulls the ultimate faux pas when he books the Honeymoon Suite the night before the lucky couple (Jim and Pam) are scheduled to break the room in.
Poor Michael (Steve Carell) is left without a room to stay in, and each character finds his or her own reason to turn him down. And he is left trying to figure out the appropriate time to interject his own jokes. Meanwhile, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) finds like-minded individuals at the kids’ table, and I, personally, was left wishing that I could hang with the kids.
But what makes it all worth it is Jim saying, “A lot of people told me I was crazy for waiting this long to go on a date with a girl I worked with…but I think I knew that I was waiting for my wife.” I think we all took a moment and said, “Awww.” And then Grandma realized that Pam is pregnant and that the young lovebirds were living together, and all hell broke loose.
But, surprisingly, who ends up being the stud? Our good boy Dwight.
Even though we always hoped that the good boy and the good girl would get married in the perfect wedding, it all becomes abundantly clear: it’s not all perfect. But it’s pretty darn close. And that’s alright.
