To recap and dish the scoop on the current lives of the first five winners of the reality series, The Bachelorette, I’ll start with the winner of season one, which also is to date, the only success story.

Vail firefighter Ryan Sutter was chosen in 2003, by physical therapist Trista Rehn, to be her one and only. So far, six years later, the couple, who had a nationally televised $1 million wedding in December 2003, is still married. The couple gave their son, Maxwell Alston, a sister named Blakesley Grace, on April 3, 2009. They live just outside Vail, Colorado.

The season two Bachelorette winner, and a surprise to me, was Ian McKee. He was chosen by a Bob Guiney Bachelor-reject, Meredith Phillips. That relationship was thought to be the second success story that would end with a wedding. Unfortunately, the twosome broke the relationship off shortly after the third season began filming. They were quoted as saying the break-up was mutual and, “our relationship began with great expectations for a happy ending, but unfortunately things didn’t work out as we had hoped. What we experienced together was incredible and we are both sad to see it end. We thank you for your support.”

Publicist Jennifer Schefft was Andrew Firestone’s Bachelorette choice, and when the couple parted ways, Jen became the next bachelorette. She was the only winner during the third season, as she refused to pick a potential husband on the show and ended up engaged to Ohioan Joe Waterman. No word on whether or not the 2009 marriage ever took place.

Real Estate agent Deanna Pappas blew away the audience, although I was rooting for him all the way, when she chose the underdog snowboarder Jesse Csincsak to be her husband. The two even chose a wedding date, May 9, 2009, and a Bahamian location, before calling off their plans. Csincsak lives in Breckenridge, Colorado, and is traveling the country, partying and doing promotions. He recently spent 16 days in Costa Rica on vacation. You can follow him on Twitter, Facebook or his official Webpage.

Last but not least, Jillian Harris chose Microsoft consultant Ed Swiderski as the winner of season five. Shortly after the show ended, Swiderski was embroiled in controversy as his girlfriend, Lindsey Johnson, broke the news that during the show he sent her an email telling her that he loved her, and then slept with her the week after the show ended. Harris reportedly is sticking by her man, and plans to move to Chicago to be with him. They also still plan to marry.

Well one, maybe two out of five, aren’t great odds, as far as finding the love of your life on TV. Let’s hope for better luck in The Bachelorette winner’s real lives.
