Three Rivers is a new hospital drama on CBS . This show tells the stories of the doctors and staff of Three Rivers Transplant Hospital. The Hospital is run by Sophia Jordan (Alfre Woodard), who normally gives me the heebie geebies, but in this role she is very calming.
The show opened with an accident on a construction site. Then, A boy starts coughing up blood at a spelling bee. Turns out he is eating metal. The doctor, Miranda Foster, thinks he is trying to get attention. He actually has pica, a condition where the body has deficiencies of certain materials and people with this eat dirt, chalk and metal, because their bodies crave it.
A pregnant woman, Terry (Hillary Tuck), brought her husband in for stitches.
while there, Terry collapses and Dr. Andy swoops in. It seems she has a rare heart condition brought on by pregnancy. Lucky for her, she was already at the hospital. She is gonna need a heart transplant and the guy that was in the accident is a match. A team is sent to the other hospital to get the heart.
A man comes into the hospital that was a refugee from South Africa, that also needs a heart. He has no insurance and is not a citizen, so the doctors have to find some sort of funding for him. He is a great guy and has lots of spirit.
Terry, gets her heart and has a C-Section. After the surgery the doctor explains what happened and lets her she her husband and baby via the TV in the room. The refugee patient is watching from outside the room and says he knows he is in a “place of life.”
Three Rivers is very interesting and the show has some comic relief spots in it. I was confused with all the characters, I was not sure who was who and what they did for a good 20 minutes into the show. Thank goodness for the Internet. If I had not visited the show site, I would have only known a couple of the character’s names.
