Phil’s in trouble, Manny and Jay are fighting, and Marshall’s worried about Lily.  Modern Family is back for its second episode and is as dysfunctional and hilarious as ever.

Phil decides to buy his son a new bike.  Luke is not the most responsible boy and not 15 minutes after he gets the bike and rides off, Phil finds the bike not chained up.  He takes the bike to teach Luke a lesson.  While riding it home, he runs into Desiree, a recently divorced mom who lives down the street (and has a bit of a … reputation).  Phil helps her et back into her house (she locked herself out) only to find the bike missing when he returns.  He buys another bike to replace the one he stole from his son.  When he comes home, he finds out Luke still has his bike.  He’s stolen some other child’s bike!

He goes to put it back, gets caught by Claire, who think’s it’s hilarious until Desiree comes rolling in with the stolen bike from before.

At Marshall and Cameron’s, Lily is ready for her playdate at Toddler Time.  Marshall asks Cameron to tone it down and is terrified of being ostracized.  They get there and one of the mommies asks if Lily is grabbing and scooting which launches Marshall into a whole new level of worrying.  The playtime gets more and more frustrating for Mitchell and Cameron as they feel out of place.  Another gay couple comes in with their baby and Cam gets mad at Mitchell for “clipping his wings” and not allowing him to be himself.  Mitchell pushes Cam to dance in the parent dance for the babies and Cam feels much better as they leave.

Meanwhile, at Jay and Gloria’s, Gloria has pushed Jay and Manny to build a ceiling fan in Manny’s room.  Jay and Gloria are supposed to go away for the weekend while Manny spends time with his dad, Javier.  Manny and Jay fight hardcore while building the fan and Manny storms out.  While Manny’s waiting for his dad, Jay gets a call from Javier who apparently can’t tear himself away from a craps table to take his son to Disney World.  Jay decides to give up the weekend with his wife and they take Manny to Disney instead.

This show is a stitch!  I must say, I personally prefer the times with Mitchell and Cameron or Jay and Gloria to Phil and Claire, but it’s all great.  One of my favorite moments is when Cam tries to make friends with a mom and she says she didn’t think Meryl Streep was the right choice for Mamma Mia. In the cutaway, Cam says “Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice.”  I agree whole heartedly Cam.  Can’t wait for next week!
