When it comes to cult television shows, one always makes the list: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I’m not ashamed but am somewhat disturbed to admit that I was (and still am) somewhat obsessive about Buffy. When it aired, I watched it every week (or taped it—yes, kids, this was before TiVO was popular), and I always felt a little let down when that week’s episode was over.
But why is it that so many people are obsessed with this TV show? Let’s look at the facts: Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran from 1997 through 2003. A healthy six seasons is just enough for a television show. Buffy is about a vampire slayer, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who has an on- and off-again relationship with a dreamy vampire named Angel (David Boreanaz). Her trusty friends, including Alyson Hannigan and Nicholas Brendon, round out the drama with their own crazy relationships (remember when Hannigan’s Willow falls in love with a werewolf and later becomes a lesbian? Prime example).
It’s been six years now since Buffy had a new episode, and there are still re-runs played frequently on various networks. Why do we want to see the adventures of Buffy and her friends over and over again? Because they rock!
Kids, keep this in mind: before Twilight, there was a genius named Joss Whedon. And he created Buffy.

I love Buffy. Great job, Katrina. My daughter is 14 and she is in love with this timeless show. She's even wanting to start collecting the comics.

You're welcome, Katrina. My fiance just brought all seven seasons down for my daughter and I to watch. We have long Buffy marathons on lazy, Sunday afternoons. It's so much fun.
