Last night’s episode of NCIS: Los Angeles was all about Sam and his relationship with an elite Navy unit called the Seals. The Navy Seals are like a type of sacred brotherhood that you mentally are always apart of once you join.

The episode opens with three men swimming in from the ocean to a drug dealer’s mansion.  The three men end up getting into a gun fight with the drug dealers and an undercover policeman gets killed.

We later learn that the men were once Navy Seals and one of them had gotten drunk and decided to raid the drug dealers home and take some money to make up for one of their comrades being shot and killed by one of the drug dealers.  He wanted to turn the money over to the dead Seal’s wife for compensation for her husband’s death.

Sam recognizes one of the Seals who raided the drug dealers mansion from a security camera. He is one of his old colleagues, a Seal that Sam trained himself. Sam confronts his old friend but gets little satisfaction. He’s personally offended that these three Seals could totally disregard the Seal’s code of honor, especially when one of their own team turns up dead and was left behind by the other two.

In a surprise twist, the investigation leads the NCIS team to discover the undercover cop was there not as an undercover agent, but was actually selling drugs. Using their skills as interrogators as well as their undercover acumen, Sam, Callen and the team are able to arrest the Seals involved, as well as take down a second dirty cop.

This was an emotional show rooted in right and wrong defined by long standing military codes that inspire the patriot in you.  Overall it was a good episode, along the lines of the original NCIS with great fight sequences and plenty of gun play.
