DWTS came back this week with a bang. Guest judge Baz Luhrmann replaced Len for the day. The dancing duos had to choose between the Jive, Quick Step, or Tango for tonight’s performance. The teams start to feel the heat of performing weekly.

First up tonight was Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough performing a Quick Step. It was fairly exciting, although her feet did look spastic from time to time. The judges gave them a 20.

Next up was Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo. They performed a Quick Step. It was very tense. The judges gave them a 20.

Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya took the stage with a very “in your face” Tango. This Tango was so intense, it left me a little nervous. Their score was a 19.

Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas danced a very fun Jive, although the polka dots made me dizzy. Their score was a 19.

Michael  Irvin and Anna Demidova did a technically proper quick step. This team works well together and Michael has improved greatly since last week. The judges must agree. They gave them a 20.

Then Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took the stage performing a Tango to the song Roxanne. They told a story with the dance. I enjoyed it greatly. They received a 21.

Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower are a great couple and performed the Jive with awesome stunts. This team score was a 19.

Animal and Gonzo from The Muppet Show guest starred in Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff’s Quick Step. Very entertaining. Why so much green, I’ll never know. The score for them was 27.

Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel performed a Tango. I felt so bad for her. There seems to be much more going on here than just dance. She’s really trying to make a good statement for her family. There were a couple of mistakes and this team scored a 19.

Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani are probably my least favorite team at this point. Their Quick Step bored me to the point of almost fast forwarding. She does not seem to have much of a personality behind her good looks. Their score was a generous 18.

Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer performed a 20’s style Quick Step. It was a good performance with a great finish. This team received a 21.

Mya and Dmitry Chaplin performed my favorite dance of the night with a fantastic opening. The song told a great story. Bruno has my quote for the evening, “it was like watching Josephine Baker and Clark Kent”. They scored a 27.

Despite a foot injury, Tom Delay and Cheryl Burke performed a romantic Tango. Tom almost dropped her on the final move. The judges gave them an 18.

Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson performed a Jive that was exciting and full of life, getting them a 25.

All in all, there were some really great performances tonight. My prediction is that Kathy Ireland or Tom Delay will go home this week, however, I have been wrong before.

Meanwhile, take a took behind the scenes at some of the special effects…
