Poor Cleveland.  His divorce is finally finalize and Loretta gets his house.  He has no place to stay in Quahog anymore, not being able to crash on no one’s couch.  The only upside is he gets custody of Cleveland Jr. (who has gained a considerable amount of weight).  Cleveland (Mike Henry) decides he and Junior are going to California where he can be a minor league baseball recruiter.  On their journey, they take a pit stop in Stoolbend, VA and things change for the better.

Stoolbend is Cleveland’s hometown.  He goes to show his son all of his baseball trophies, but instead runs into Donna Tubbs (Sanaa Lathan), the woman he loved all throughout school.  She married her high school flame, Robert, but he ran out on her, leaving her with her two children, Roberta and Rallo (also Mike Henry).  She offers the Clevelands a place to stay while they’re in town.

Cleveland turns Donna’s life upside down.  He terrifies Roberta’s boyfriend, Federline Jones, into bringing her home on time and helps Rallo, who’s a 5 year old pervert, get back into school.  Donna realizes the kids need a man in their life so she gets back with her ex, Robert.  Cleveland leaves feeling angry and dejected until Cleveland Jr.

convinces him to go back and fight for Donna.  He does, they exchange “I love you”s and get married.

I am a huge fan of Family Guy so when I heard of a Cleveland spin-off, I jumped at the chance to review it.  Let me tell you, I was not disappointed.  The Cleveland Show was every bit as funny as I expected, particularly the part where Cleveland is grilling Federline Jones.  The theme music was simple but lovely.  It will be nice to see how Cleveland’s life evolves in his new town.

See how Mike came up for the character Cleveland!
