If you know who Philip Jose Farmer was, then you know that this mini-series has the potential to be amazing. Although Farmer passed away earlier this year, his legacy as one of the best writers of fantasy and science fiction is sure to live on for generations to come. In 2010, this RHI Entertainment production in Farmer’s Riverworld universe will be coming to the Syfy channel. The Riverworld universe was created and expanded by Farmer in a series of five novels from 1971 to 1983. While there was a 2003 television production of Riverworld done in the UK, the current RHI production’s release on the Syfy channel should give the concept a much broader audience. We can only hope that they can live up to the fantasy that Farmer originally created through the written word. I don’t want to ruin it for you, so if you’re not familiar with the Riverworld story then I highly recommend you visit your local library or book store to see if you can find a copy of To Your Scattered Bodies Go, the book that started it all.
