I love Michael Scott (Steve Carell). He’s so naïve and innocent…and ignorant.
When Jim (John Krasinski) and David Wallace (Andy Buckley) have a private meeting, Michael spends torturous time trying to milk information from Pam (Jenna Fischer). When that doesn’t pan out, he tries every trick in the book to seem important and find a way in on what Jim and David are discussing.
So it seems as though Jim is looking to get a promotion … which hits Michael the wrong way and causes him to talk some serious crap about Jim, including this incredible statement: “Big Bird doesn’t make the tough decisions.” But good old Jim wasn’t trying to take Michael’s job and leave him out in the cold … he was trying to get Michael promoted too! The result?
Our favorite Dunder-Mifflin branch, Scranton, now has two co-managers. And one of them is not Dwight (Rainn Wilson).
On the other side of the office, Toby (Paul Lieberstein) and Dwight spend the day investigating Darryl’s (Craig Robinson) claim for worker’s compensation. Now, Toby is typically a logical, rational man, but with Dwight’s influence, he gets a little crazy. And we find that these two actually have a lot in common. All of this occurs prior to the funniest moment with Toby in The Office history: him screaming obscenities at someone who initially looks a lot like Darryl without crutches … but ends up being his masculine sister.
Kudos to Pam and Jim for planning their wedding to take place in Niagara Falls in a weak attempt to keep office workers from attending. Too bad Michael decided to give everyone a few days off so they could go.
This episode was filled with Office gems, and I am filled with hope and intense anticipation for the next episode.
