The new ABC Television Series FlashForward premiered last night. The hook of the series  that the entire world’s population blacks out for exactly two minutes and 17 seconds and during that time they are not asleep but are actually given a glimpse into their own future, six months ahead.

Nobody knows if the future is set in stone or if it can be changed.  Many people are given a new outlook on life, such as a young doctor who was on the brink of committing suicide when the flash forward happened. He sees that he is still alive and take it as a sign that he was not meant to kill himself. Then there is this FBI agent who did not have a vision and so he is afraid that he will be dead in the next six months.

Another agent sees his future as being on the brink of solving the mystery as to what or who caused this global event to occur.

In one instance he is hoping that his flash forward visions are a true glimpse of the future so that he might be able to solve the mystery. On the other hand his wife revealed that in her  future she will in be love with another man.

ABC’s FlashForward looks like it can be a very special type of series and Over 7 million viewers tuned in to watch this first episode.  The hook of the show opens the door to so many possibilities and story lines because the events are so diverse.  Overall, I was incredibly impressed by the pilot episode of Flash Forward and look forward to seeing what comes next in the series.
