Josh Gates and the Destination Truth team touch down in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt to explore the dark recesses of King Tut’s tomb before they head to the Florida Everglades to search for a swamp monster known as the “skunk ape.”
King Tut’s Tomb
Josh and crew mount camels and descend into King Tut’s tomb, where a number of guards and tourists have witnessed apparitions and other paranormal activity over the years. While the crew sets up base camp, Josh and Jael scope out the surrounding valley, and moments into their trek Josh spies a shadow on the FLIR, starting out their investigation with a promising bang.
The crew notes before they head into the tomb that they all have upset stomachs.
Within seconds, they are bombarded by a sandstorm that puts them behind schedule. At last, they head into the tomb and find EMF spikes over the sarcophagus that quickly vanishes. They also hear a barrage of noises, sounds like a person walking through the tomb, and then Bicha experiences stabbing stomach pains that put him out of the investigation. They start to do EVP work, but base camp’s equipment isn’t fairing well. After Josh hears even more strange noises in the tomb, he has Mike come in to try and corroborate his experience. While inside, Mike experiences tightness in his chest and shortness of breath, and Josh sends Rex in to pull him out.
Once they’re back in the states, they analyze the evidence they picked up. They find evidence of the sounds Josh heard in the tomb on EVP. They also find a strange photograph they can’t identify. Josh concludes that the team escaped the curse, but they can’t dismiss the claims of paranormal activity.
The Swamp Ape
In the Florida Everglades there have been reports of a strange swamp monster often called the “swamp skunk.” Josh and team head down to the Everglades to search for the eight foot primate.
Traveling by swamp buggy, Josh and team head three hours into the alligator infested swamp and it’s only moments before Josh spies something huge walking around in the swamp. They set up base camp, placing infrared cameras around the camp and warn the team about the dangers of water moccasins, panthers and alligators, as they’ll be working in the dark. They’ve also set up bait in the area, so they’ll more than likely attract a host of creatures.
While exploring, Josh and Jael come upon a cotton mouth snake, and Jael begins to question whether or not they should go forward. Base camp lets them know they saw something pass in front of the camera, and when Josh and Jael arrive, the bate is gone. They see something of relative size in the trees surrounding them. Josh heads out to investigate what knocked over the camera, and catches something on the FLIR.
Upon returning to the States, they review their evidence and Josh talks to a zoo curator about what they’ve caught. The curator believes the animal they caught on film may be one of the few Florida panthers still alive.
