New_Christine_0501In the season premiere of The New Adventures of Old Christine, old Christine’s ex, Richard, is dumped at the alter by “new” Christine, Barbara picks up a guy at the wedding and reveals to him she’s illegal. Turns out he’s an officer in immigration and has to deport her. You caught up? Me too.

Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) goes and visits Barbara in “prison” (which turns out to be a dormitory) and decides to go to the Bahamas to help her friend. She insults the stewardess several times, freaks out on the plane, inflates her life vest and then promptly forgets her passport on the plane along with her wallet.

She’s detained in the Bahamas in immigration and uses her sexuality to get herself out.

Barb starts spreading rumors about Dave, the immigration officer, but he’s persistent in his apologies. He brings her flowers and candy and helps her find a way to stay in the country that doesn’t involve her getting shot in the leg.

Richard camps on new Christine’s porch trying to get her to come out and talk to him. He wakes up and finds she wasn’t home, she meets him on the porch after staying at her mother’s place. He explains how much he loves her and his ex doesn’t mean anything, but she informs him she’s moved on, even though the wedding was yesterday. He’s crushed.

When Christine and Matthew get back they find Barb (Wanda Sykes) on the couch with Richard. Turns out Barb can stay if she gets married, so she gets engaged… to Richard.

This show was a whirlwind of fun. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is over the top as old Christine, showing us just how crazy her antics can be and Wanda Sykes was as brilliant as I expected her to be. Good show.
