Modern_Family_0101Three families. One bloodline. Modern Family. Let the craziness commence!

Our first family is Claire and Phil. They’ve been married for 16 years and have three children- Haley, Alex and Luke. Haley is the oldest and invites a boy over to the house. Claire has a minor meltdown, as all moms do when their daughters are with boys (I know my mom did!) and spooks the boy. Luke shoots Alex with a BB gun and is threatened to be punished by Phil shooting him with the gun. Phil chickens out at the last moment but ends up shooting his son by accident. When Haley runs out to freak about Claire, Phil accidentally shoots Haley’s friend.

Our second family is Mitchell and Cameron.

We meet them as they’re coming back from Vietnam with their new adopted daughter, Lily. Mitchell is very sensitive to people not accepting him being gay nor accepting Cameron. Cameron is super dramatic and upset at his weight gain (that happened while waiting for the baby during the “nesting period”). Cameron informs Mitchell that he knows Mitchell didn’t tell his family about the adoption and has invited them over for dinner.

Our third family is Jay and Gloria. Jay is father to Claire and Mitchell and is having a midlife crisis. He is married to Gloria who has Manny from a previous marriage. She is a hot latin lady with a thick accent and a quick tongue. At Manny’s soccer game, Gloria gets asked if Jay’s her father. After that he starts feeling very insecure about his age. When Manny goes to serenade a girl he likes at the mall, Jay buys super “hip” clothes.

At the family convergence dinner party, everyone gathers around as Mitchell tries to explain they’ve adopted a baby while the Jay picks apart his relationship. In a very dramatic Lion King entrance, Cameron presents the baby and the warmth of the family truly shows through.

I have to say, I absolutely adored this show.  Modern Family reminds me so much of my own and I’m sure if you watch too, you’ll see what I see.
