A divorced woman in her 40′s lives in a suburban town with her teenage son and tries to confront her age head on. Welcome to Cougar Town.
Jules Cobb (Courtney Cox) has gotten rid of the baggage in her life (i.e. her ex husband) and is now trying to move on. Her 20-something assistant, Laurie, tries her best to push her boss into the dating scene – clubbing, dancing and lots of booze. Jules is resistant, Laurie is persistent, and Jules grows further and further away from her best friend Ellie. When Laurie drags Jules to a club one night, she ends up taking home a much younger man and gets caught by her high school aged son, Travis, and her ex husband, Bobby.
Travis gets into a fight at school over advertisements for his mother’s real estate agency that have her looking very risque. His dad gets a landscaping job at the school and Travis is absolutely mortified by both of his parents for the time being. We watch as Jules comes into her own, becoming more and more comfortable with her own skin and her age.
Courtney Cox brings vibrant life to the character Jules and truly blew me away with her skills. I wasn’t sure of the show when I started watching, but I rapidly became a fan. It didn’t hurt that one of my favorite actresses, Christa Miller, plays Ellie. All the characters are brilliantly played and I can’t wait to see where this show goes.
