HIMYM_medAfter a summer of nail biting and waiting with baited breath, How I Met Your Mother is back with a vengeance.

The beginning starts with a small recap of the summer.  Barney and Robin have finally kissed and acknowledged their relationship… only to not have a relationship.  Lily (played by Alyson Hannigan) is devastated until the group walks in on Barney and Robin making out on their couch.  Apparently they’ve been fooling around all summer behind their friends’ backs.

Ted has a horrible dream about being a teacher and the friends console him.  Barney (the handsome Neil Patrick Harris) tries to tell him what went wrong in his dream, only for Lily to turn it into “You have to have the talk” to define Barney’s and Robin’s relationship.  Barney and Robin refuse, scared to take that next step.  When Robin goes on a date with another guy and Barney punches him, Lily locks the two in the bedroom trying to force “the talk.”

Ted embarrasses himself in front of his first class, accidentally teaching his Architecture 101 class to Economics 305.  It takes him 20 minutes to realize this!  Once he got to the right class he felt so much more comfortable than he’d been if he’d been there from the start.

Lily and her hubby Marshall continue to keep Barney and Robin caged as they reject explanations of their relationships like “We’re just hanging out”.  They sit down and actually talk and realize that they really do want the dreaded “boyfriend and girlfriend” title.

I really enjoyed this show.  The cast is hilarious, everything’s well executed and the story flows really well.  Can’t wait for next week!
