The 9th season of Dancing With The Stars, opened the first night of their 3 day premiere with a fantastic performance by all the professional male dancers of the show. This year, Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris return as hosts. We are also glad to see the panel of eccentric judges has not changed.
This year, the show has more stars than ever, starting out with eight men and eight women. This episode was commonly referred to as “macho Monday” and tomorrow is “ladies’ night” with the results show airing on Wednesday.

Relay Dance
The relay dance is new this year. They split the eight couples up into two groups of four, and they dance side-by-side with 30 second performance times. The judges rank them first to forth place and give them points accordingly. The point system is:
1st = 10 points
2nd = 8 points
3rd = 6 points
4th = 4 points
The Salsa Relay
The 4 couples that performed the Fox Trot were in this relay.
The judges said “Donny Osmond was smoking,” “Chuck knows how to work a women,” “Louie Vito was fun” and “Ashley Hamilton had a performance only a father could love”.

3rd – Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya
4th – Ashley Hamilton and Edyta Sliwinska
The Viennese Waltz Relay
The 4 couples that performed the Cha Cha Cha competed in this relay.
The judges said “Aaron had a great performance,” “Mark held great lines with control,” “Michael had a better performance than before,” and “Tom’s performance was smooth and elegant.”

The second night will feature all the women competing this year. Wednesday night, there will be a double elimination. (one women and one man) Wednesday night will also have a special tribute to Patrick Swayze.
