CSIMiami0801The first episode of CBS television’s CSI: Miami premiered September 23, 2002, which was a spin off from the original show entitled CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.  The series follows a South Florida forensics team that is spearheaded by Horatio Caine (David Caruso). The show works against a backdrop of brooding ethnic and cultural tensions that makes for great drama and story lines.

CSI: Miami’s new season’s first episode is entitled “Out of Time.”  The scene opens with the team going through a swamp trying to located the seriously injured Delko.  During the course of the episode Horatio flashes back 12 years to reveal how the team first met,  all the while with the drama of Delko’s life hanging in the balance weighing on your mind.

A great bit of writing seemingly sending a subliminal message as they are reflecting on the past, leaving the question up in the air “Will  Delko be around for future episodes?

” which causes you to want to know more about his relationship with the team and how everything fits together.

This episode brought back some surprise old characters that haven’t been seen in a while and as always there was the need for forensics and an acute eye to piece a crime puzzle together – all vintage CSI: Miami.

The show’s main hook is the way certain, almost unnoticed, details add up together to expose the truth in the end.  CSI: Miami writers have been doing that for eight years and it never gets old even if the show’s 19 million viewers have started taking it for granted.
